BSkyB is cutting 250 jobs as it see’s is operating profits fall, despite good sales of its Sky+ Service and a record number of new customers. BSkyB’s operating profit was down 11% (to £724 Million). The fall in profits is being blamed on two main issues; The loss of advertising revenues, the subsequent result of Sky and Virgin Media failing to reach an agreement to carry Sky’s basic channels and also the higher cost of Sky’s new contract to show FA Premiership League football games.]]>

Data loss seems to be happening all over the place and yet Virgin Media has fallen foul to the demons that is, CD’s which contain sensitive banking information being lost. Apparently, customers who signed up in the Carphone Warehouse stores across the nation during January this year, appear to be affected. Virgin Media is said to be conducting its own inquiries and insists it’s ‘outside policy’ for such data to be transferred to CD in such a manner and this is a ‘isolated’ incident.]]>

We have received information that Virgin Media, is from tomorrow (May 29th), going to start mailing its customers who download and upload, excessively. We have been told that they are in the process of writing to those high usage broadband customers who are downloading and / or uploading huge amounts, which Virgin Media claim can have an overall impact on the broadband experience for all their customers.]]>

The Guardian, reports that city sources are claiming BSkyB has set its eyes on Virgin Media owned channels such as; Bravo, Challenge and Living by considering a £600 Million bid. Sky is said to be also interested in channels under the UKTV brand of which Virgin Media owns a 50% stake, the other half owned by BBC Worldwide. ]]>
